Outreach
“…Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.” (Matthew 25.40)
Jesus cared deeply for the downtrodden and less fortunate, and He calls His followers to do the same. Here are some of the ways in which we try to share our blessings with the “least of these.”
Children’s Homes
We help to support the work of five different children’s homes:
- Children’s Homes, Inc., based in Paragould, Arkansas, has provided loving, Christian homes for children whose parents cannot care for them since 1955. In addition to regular financial support, we also participate in the Change for Children change can drive each year.
- City of Children is an orphanage located in Ensenada, Mexico which currently provides care for over 100 children of all ages. We have helped to support the work of City of Children for over 30 years.
- Fair Haven is a children’s home located in Strafford, Missouri. Fair Haven helps cover their expenses by operating a thrift store in Springfield, Missouri, and in addition to the monthly support we give them, our youth group has worked in their thrift store and helped to improve their physical grounds during multiple summer work trips.
- Hope Harbor has provided care and help for thousands of at-risk children and teenagers since 1947. Hope Harbor is located in Claremore, Oklahoma, and cares for 20-25 children.
- Southern Christian Home cares for children ages 6-17 years old. Located in Morrilton, Arkansas, Southern Christian home has been in operation since 1926. In addition to regular financial support, we also collect pantry items for the Southern Christian home truck which comes each quarter.
Local Benevolence
- The Dorcas Room is a clothing room we operate which serves the needy in the community.
- The Quilting Ladies get together once a month to make quilts for Children’s Homes, hospitals, victims of house fires and more.
In addition to these efforts, we also participate in local benevolence by providing groceries to the needy in our area on a case-by-case basis.
