We are excited for 2020! Our theme this year is “In Farmington as it is in Heaven.” This year’s theme is inspired by Jesus’ prayer in the Sermon on the Mount. In Matthew 6.10, Jesus instructs his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” In this statement, Jesus was asking his followers to ask God to help them do their part to bring about the kingdom of God more fully on earth as it was in Heaven.
With this in mind, we will be focusing on what it means for us to live as people who strive to do His will in such a way that our community looks a little more like His Kingdom every day. We are called to be people who show love in a world of hate; who pursue peace in a world of violence; who show grace in a world of judgment; who serve as light in a world of darkness; who seek to bring healing to a world of brokenness. In doing these things, the world can indeed be a little more like the kingdom every day.
At the end of the day, we have to ask ourselves, “Is the Farmington community more Christ-like because we are in it?” We earnestly hope and pray that the answer will always be yes.
